What is ankle knitting?
An ankle knitted sock is designed to sit just above the ankle, making it suitable for wearing in fancier shoes where you don't want the edge of the sock to show, such as in suit shoes or loafers. The fine knitting contributes to a smooth and elegant finish.
What does Jeansverket socks contain ?
- 80% Merino wool: This is the dominant component and gives the sock its main characteristics. Merino wool is a very fine and soft type of wool that does not itch, unlike traditional wool. Its fibers are thinner, making the sock more comfortable against the skin. Merino wool is also known for its excellent temperature regulating ability. It keeps feet warm in the cold and breathable in warmer weather. In addition, wool has natural moisture-wicking properties and is naturally antibacterial, reducing the risk of bad odors.
- 15% Polyamide: Polyamide, also known as nylon, is a synthetic fiber that is added to increase the durability and wear resistance of socks. Since wool fibers can be susceptible to wear and tear, especially at the heel and toe, polyamide reinforces these areas. This allows the sock to keep its shape better and last longer.
- 5% Lycra (Elastane): Lycra is a very elastic fiber. It gives the sock its stretch and allows it to fit well around the foot and ankle without slipping down. Lycra also helps the sock to retain its fit wash after wash.
